Amy Yarborough was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. Living in the Upstate and close to the mountains, she grew to love hiking and spending time outdoors. Another passion of hers was writing when she was growing up. In high school she became involved in the school newspaper and yearbook. This led her to the University of South Carolina where she is a senior public relations major in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. While pursuing her degree Amy has been a marketing/public relations intern for Farm to Table Events, Management and Catering in Columbia.
Ashton Stephens is a senior public relations major from Spartanburg, South Carolina. Stephens is a member of the University of South Carolina all-girl cheerleading team and works as a marketing intern at Blair Cato Law Firm in Columbia, South Carolina. After graduation, Stephens plans to attend graduate school to pursue a master’s degree in Communications.
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Cassidy Spencer is current copy chief with Garnet & Black magazine, operations intern with local film festival collective Indie Grits, and publicist for on-campus student-run theater organization, Green Room Productions. She is an experienced and passionate journalist, actor, and writer with public relations and communications experience. Through involvement with University of South Carolina’s Department of Theater & Dance and Trustus Theater, as well as her presidency with Overreactors Improv Group, she has developed public speaking skills and an aptitude for working effectively on a team.
A native of Saddle River, New Jersey, Gianna I. Pace is a full-time student in her fourth year at the University of South Carolina. She is majoring in public relations and minoring in hospitality. She is also a content producer at the digital media marketing agency, 6boro Social, of Hoboken, New Jersey. As a content producer, she manages the social media accounts of multiple clients while collaborating with a team on social media campaigns for other clients. She is also a lead resident mentor of The Rhodos Fellows Community at South Quad residence hall.
Gloria Burroughs is an aspiring public relations specialist, studying at the University of South Carolina. Growing up in Greenville SC, she developed a passion for photography and writing. In high school she would work on photography projects, write poetry, and read articles in her pastime. She developed a love for storytelling, and visual arts and wanted to further pursue that in college. Gloria is currently the co-membership chair of USC’s chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America. She will be graduating in the spring of 2020. She hopes to pursue a career in entertainment pr, and work with artists.
Hannah Norman is native from Lexington, South Carolina and is a senior majoring in public relations with a minor in business administration. She is captain of the University of South Carolina Cheerleading team and enjoys traveling with the football and women’s basketball team to games. Norman is a marketing intern at Blair Cato Pickren Casterline, a law firm in Columbia. Norman has recently opened a women’s clothing boutique in Lexington with her mom and family friends called The Kindred Boutique.
Kasey Ello, a senior at the University of South Carolina, is majoring in public relations with a cognate in sports marketing. Ello plans to graduate in May 2020 with a bachelor of arts degree. She is a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, where she served as the public relations vice president assistant. She is also a member of Public Relations Student Society of America. During the summer of 2018, Ello was the public relations intern for Loudoun Therapeutic Riding. She helped with planning events and writing newsletters. During the summer of 2019, Ello was the marketing and communications intern for the Bank of Charles Town.
Katie Gerald, a Raleigh native, is a senior public relations major and a sports and entertainment management minor at the University of South Carolina. She is currently a communications and marketing intern for Zerorez where she works with different marketing techniques from radio and television advertising, to digital, social and event marketing. She also has learned how to manage marketing campaigns across several different platforms. Gerald also loves to play, watch and learn about sports which is why she was interested in making sports and entertainment management her minor. She hopes to one day fulfill her dreams of working in sports.
Kiersten Greene is a senior public relations major at the University of South Carolina. Greene grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina and has spent her life traveling to Columbia for Gamecocks football games. Greene’s involvement in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications includes her work for the alumni magazine Intercom and taking challenging courses to improve her writing skills. While working on articles for Intercom, she was able to interview a lead photographer for Getty Images, Win McNamee, as well as a few of her fellow SJMC classmates. This past summer, Greene had a business management internship at Enterprise Holdings where she worked to improve sales numbers and customer service.
Liz Bellaire is a senior public relations major at the University of South Carolina. Bellaire worked as the social media content intern at the Kiawah Conservancy for a summer on Kiawah Island. She not only created content for the whole nonprofit but also organized and promoted events helping the wildlife and habitat on the island. Her biggest work-related accomplishment was hosting and advertising a 300-person turtle patrol event on Kiawah. Social media is one of her strongest areas.
Maddie Hamilton is a senior public relations major at the University of South Carolina. She was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, but her family now lives in West Palm Beach, Florida. She hopes to become a public relations professional for a nonprofit after she graduates in the spring. Maddie’s hobbies include running half marathons, traveling, and supporting the Gamecocks. She is also a member of Tri Delta Sorority and served on their officer council her junior year.
Madeline Farris, a senior public relations major, at the University of South Carolina works for Carolina Aquatics, a swim team local to Columbia, South Carolina. Farris is Carolina Aquatic’s lessons program coordinator and schedules swim lessons, communicates with parents and teaches students a curriculum ranging from basic skills to advanced strokes. She also oversees the advertising and marketing of the lessons program to target audiences. Farris was the swim team’s public relations intern during the Summer of 2019. She created promotional videos, slideshows and designed the state team meet shirt. As the director of membership for her sorority, Farris organized and distributed a guest list of over 1,700 potential new members during the Fall 2018 and 2019 recruitment seasons.
Marion Walker Coleman is majoring in public relations and as a senior minoring in sport entertainment management at The University of South Carolina. Marion Walker just began a job at Chernoff Newman working for the public relations side of the company. While growing up in Winnsboro, South Carolina she is the youngest of 3 kids and has 2 amazing parents. In her free time she loves being with her family and friends as well as traveling.
Mike Olson is a senior broadcast journalism major at the University of South Carolina. Mike grew up in Ellicott City, Maryland, where he found his love of sports. Knowing he lacked the talent to be a professional athlete, he decided to study journalism in college with the hopes of becoming a sports reporter.
Last summer, Mike interned with the sports department at ABC Columbia where he was responsible for writing web articles, scripts and editing video that was used on the evening news.
Outside of the classroom, Mike plays rugby for USC’s club team. He also enjoys hiking, camping and just being outdoors.
Naja Hough is a senior broadcast journalism major and sport and entertainment management minor from Columbia, South Carolina. Naja transferred to the University of South Carolina after spending her freshman year playing softball on scholarship at Columbia College. She is currently the community service chair of USC’s chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists and serves as a senator for the College of Information and Communications. After graduation, she wants to find a job in sports journalism, whether it be as a reporter, producer, or writer.
Pinya Murphy is a senior public relations major from Columbia, Maryland. Throughout the past three years, Pinya has been active within the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, participating in the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), InterCom and the Carolina Agency. Her recent activities include writing an InterCom feature on an SJMC alumnus who now work for The Washington Post, becoming an account manager for The Carolina Agency and interning at Textron Specialized Vehicles this past summer. At her internship, Pinya worked on a variety of projects including leading an audit of a company website, collaborating with team members to create product names and creating marketing materials for the golf side of the business.
Quianna Nolan is a senior public relations major at the University of South Carolina. A native of Greenville, SC, Nolan is a well-rounded student and media enthusiast. Nolan aspires to one day have her own public relations firm.
